Budby

a nice walk at Budby the other day, with the sun out and although it felt a little on the cool side, very pleasant to be out on the heath again, not much in the way of wildlife to be seen, apart from a couple of crows, and we did spot a few deer hoof prints in the sandy areas too :) Budby 1.jpg Budby 2.jpg Budby 3.jpg Budby 5.jpg

we got to go to Budby with some friends yesterday, and thoroughly enjoyed it too :)
i hadn't realised it was so big either !, according to my friend, we covered less than half of it on our two hour walk :)
despite being a sunny day, it was bitterly cold with the wind blowing across the open heath, and there was still frost on the ground and ice on the puddles even at 1pm ! not that it spoilt the walk in any way at all :)

we took advantage of the sun coming out after this morning light rain, to visit the heath at Budby again,
somewhat warmer than our last visit too :) and we got to meet those famous cows as well,
amazing how much nicer it is when its warm :D

we took a walk on Budby today, which started of quite nicely, as the weather was great, like a lovely spring day in fact :)
i took a couple of photos of my favourite tree on the heath,
pine 1.JPG pine 2.JPG

and then we climbed the stile to go onto the heath itself, which was when things started to go wrong !
as i climbed the stile my camera swung loose and smashed into the post with an ominous cracking sound, :o
on inspection it did not look damaged, but it was completely dead, so no more photos from the walk hereon :(

things got worse as we progressed across the heath, with workmen everywhere ripping out trees etc and erecting new fencing, and in the process making an almighty mess :x
lots of fine trees cut down and paths all churned up into a muddy mess :(

not sure i like the way the RSPB is managing the area at all, and i wont be going to that area for a long time, i can tell you !
