you can find fungi categories for the discussion on all types of fungi, in the Fungi Forum Index,

with separate forums for each of the main groups of fungi, and a separate forum for help with an id of your fungi finds, and also a forum for general fungi topics,

please read the board rules for the "fungi for id" board before posting in that board, as it contains some important notes on the use of the board,

when posting any fungi for id there, please include as much information as you can to help other members to try and id your finds,

try and include good clear images of the Cap, Stem, gills (or Pores etc)

if possible include images of both young and mature specimens

what was it growing on ? eg: wood, soil, plant etc, and was what it was growing on dead or alive ?

what trees or plants were growing nearby ?

did it have any particular smell to it, especially when crushed etc, ?

did any part of it change colour when cut, bruised or damaged ?
and if so how long before any such change occured ?

did the fungi exude any milk substance from the gills etc when cut or damaged ?

a spore print, if possible, as the spore colour is a good indicator in many cases,

did the cap or stem feel dry, sticky, slimy, rough, smooth or scaly etc

Taste,
to taste the fungi chew a very small piece on the end of the tongue for a few seconds and then spit it out,
did it feel hot, mild, bitter etc
IMPORTANT ! ONLY DO THIS IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCED WITH FUNGI AS A WHOLE,
IF YOU ARE UNSURE, DO NOT TASTE ANY PART OF THE FUNGI !

please note that any id from just your photograph and any information that you supply, is not guaranteed to be correct, and is supplied by any members in good faith, you should therefore never eat any fungi that has been identified here unless you are 101% certain of its identity, and that it is safe to eat,
as this could lead to you being, at best, ill, or at the very worst, could lead to your death !

not all fungi can be safely identified here on the forum, even with any or all the above information supplied by you, as many need much work and time with a microscope etc, and by someone who is very experienced with fungi. so don't be disappointed if you do not get a positive id here
(as even the experts can get it wrong sometimes  )

if you want to eat fungi then pop along to your local supermarket, where you will find lots of tasty and 100% safe mushrooms to take home to eat in total safety :D

visit the FUNGI A-Z in the Gallery to see lots of fungi images,
