Oaks still retaining their leaves

#1

Post by bizzy » February 7th, 2019, 5:51 pm

i've noticed that lots of the young oaks in the area still have the dead, brown leaves on the tree,
is this usual for oaks to do this, or is there some other reason for it,
i know Beech hedges retain theirs, depending on the time the hedge was trimmed, (a.f.a.i.k)
but these oaks have definitely not been trimmed at all,

Seems quite normal to me, its only new spring growth that seems to push old ones off, on our tree.

i've noticed on my dog walks, that the small oaks have kept their leaves on,
while the large, mature ones have shed all theirs,
so it must be something quite normal, as treehugger says :)
