acer / maple question

#1

Post by tapinela » April 9th, 2019, 10:49 am

spotted this Acer/Maple tree at the weekend,
and it has already formed its seed keys, with the leaves still in bud form,
is this normal ? the acers in my garden all seem to have the leaves and flowers emerging more or less at the same time,

the acers in our garden have their leaves and flowers developing at the same time too (apart from a large (25ft+) yellow leaved variety that I cant remember the name of now, which has still not opened its buds) so I don't know if yours in unusual or not ?
the flowers on it must have been and gone for the fruits to have developed to that stage,

looking at the leaf buds on the one I found, they have still to open to show the leaves, so the flowers must have appeared quite early,
you would think that if its normal habit for whatever species it is, then something would come up in a search, but so far I have not found any reference to this sort of thing :(
