wood sorrel

I saw my first flowers of wood sorrel today,

and the Wood Avens is doing nicely too, lots of it along the woodland paths today,

I visited that same bridge again today, and there it was again :D flowering quite happily, despite the fact that the verges and the bridge itself got an application of weed killer, courtesy of the local council :( so, not only is it road salt tolerant, it also seems to be tolerant of the weedkiller ...

its a Heron for me :D
one flew very low over the supermarket car park earlier today,
you don't appreciate the size of them until you get up close to one, I don't know if this one was an extra large one or not, but it brought an image of a Teradactyl to mind as it laboured overhead :D :D

I think its one of the Nothofagus species (Southern Beech) myself,
but there are lots of different species of it, (see this link for more info on them)
as far as I know, they are grown as ornamental trees here in the uk,
