Peregrines 2018

#1

Post by bizzy » March 9th, 2018, 11:33 am

the Peregrine falcons are back at Notts Trent University nest site :D
one of the birds was in residence on the ledge this morning, with the nest box looking like it has been cleaned out and refurbished, ready for another years breeding cycle :)

lets hope they have another good year :)

me too :) i really enjoyed following them as they laid the eggs and reared the chicks last year :)
maybe this year we will actually be able to see the chicks leave the nest, a i missed that moment before.
i had a few worrying moments when those chicks wandered up and down the ledge before they were able to fly :o

no birds to be seen this morning, but looking at the gravel in the nest box, it looks like they have made the 'nest' ,
so it should not be long before we see that 1st egg :D

i've just had a look at the nest site, but no birds to be seen, but i did notice some feathers blowing around in the nest box,
and wondered if the male has been bringing prey to the female at the nest as part of the pair bonding process ?
switching between the cameras did not show any remnants of the prey though.

i've just posted two short videos of the bird to the video section here on the forum, which show the bird on the nest,
not much action in the second clip though

you can also see them on you tube direct by following these links,
