the bird left the nest to take a meal break last evening, so the egg was in plain view for a while :)

i had a quick peek at the site tonight, and the bird was asleep with its head tucked into its wing :)

just had a look at the nest, and the bird was absent, with that egg looking quite lonely in the box :(
no idea how long the bird has left the egg uncovered, not too long i hope :?

its nice to see this thread again this year :)
there was no bird on the nest when i looked a little while ago either,

Capture 2a.jpg

then i noticed that there was one down at the far end of the ledge, at which point the second bird came back to the nest to sit on the egg,

i tried cropping this pic for a better view of the second bird, but its not worked too well :(

the quick answer to that is easy Mary :)
this one was taken around 6pm this evening, so unless shes laid another one after dark, then its still just the one egg :)

i've looked at the nest site over the last couple of days, and the bird was sitting tight, in almost the same position each time !
so i've not been able to see how many eggs there are in the nest,
here she is at 4pm this afternoon.
